Sauter Carbon Offset Designs will deliver a minimum reduction in both fuel consumption & GHG emissions of 75%, which as a Certified Carbon Offset Project could amount to a 2 to 6,000 Ton per year reduction in GHG emissions in 40 to 60 meter Ultra Green Superyacht charters. The fuel cost savings for vessels in this size range can be estimated at between 200 to 600,000 gallons per year, which at $3.00 per gallon amounts to a savings of between $600,000 to $1.2 million dollars per year.

When Solar Hybrid Technology is applied to a 100m Coast Guard vessel we are looking at what could easily qualify as a 40,000 Ton per year Certified Carbon Offset Project. As such, this one vessels Carbon Offset is greater than most Carbon Offset Projects serving entire communities in developing countries. A fuel savings of 75% for Coast Guard vessels may save as much as 4 million gallons per year. At $3.00 a gallon this is an annual fuel cost savings of $12 million dollars.

There is no telling how far fuel prices will rise over time, none the less, given the indestructibility of present day composites, it is highly probable that a fuel cost savings of 75% over the life of a commercial Solar Hybrid Vessel is likely to cover if not exceed its building cost.
